Microsoft Network Inspection System stopped working and was closed

Microsoft Network Inspection System stopped working and was closed. “A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.”

After looking this up on Google, I see this:

“I Tried Downloading the Nis and the security essentials update definitions from Microsoft.com neither fixed the problem I really need help.”

“Some time i get this pop up why and how do i fix this if it helps I’m running Vista Home premium it didn’t used to do this and I have no idea why it started.”

In my case I think I ran this app a few weeks ago but I really don’t remember now and I’m  running Vista 32.

Update: I had been playing around in the network settings and clicking on random folders but nothing I did messed it up. This looks like it may be caused by a bug in a Microsoft Security Essentials update. If anyone has any ideas please post a comment.

When you do a Windows Update, does it keep showing an available update for Security Essentials definitions? It did on mine and I kept getting the same error you get.

You can try this but it did not work for me…     Try going here:  http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/HowToMSE.aspx#MSE64bit

I get the same Security Essentials update error message.  After trying all this nothing has fixed it,  so delete Microsoft Security Essentials and Reinstall it. That so far has fix it for me (its only been 3 hours and over the past few weeks it has been popping up on one day but not the next).

Update: Deleting Microsoft Security Essentials and Reinstalling it seems to be the fix! I did this and the error did not come back.

Cisco 3700 router    I stopped using the Cisco 3700 series router and now use a IBM x300 server with pfsense installed. pfSense is a free, open source customized distribution of FreeBSD tailored for use as a firewall and router. The network seems to work fine and very good speed improvements with the switch from 10/100 to Gigabit Ethernet. So far the only thing installed with pfsense is the country and ip blocker packages blocking China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Level 1 blocking.

Installed Memory – 768MB (SDRAM)

This is a Pic of my KVM setup. I have 4 computer monitors one plugged into a 8 port Tripp Lite KVM, one plugged into just the wifi box, one into the sound recording server and one plugged into the home media server as a duel monitor.

How to access Acer Boot Recovery menu screen

You can try ALT+F10 or CTRL+F10 during the initial boot cycle – this will prompt the laptop to access the recovery partition on the hard drive. If you need to boot from the cd/dvd drive you will need to change the boot order. You can do this in the BIOS setup, accessible by pressing F2 during the power on cycle, and editing the “boot” section.

I did boot to the DOS prompt and was then able to access the recovery images that way to.
