Get longer battery life from your iPod!

Posted in: How to Video, iPod |

If you charge your iPod from your computer then your battery may be getting old faster then you think.

When you hook-up your iPod to the PC, it goes into a sync mode. After the iPod is done with the sync stage, the “Do not disconnect” screen stays “ON” if you don’t eject it from iTunes. If you continue to recharge your iPod with the pc and keep letting it charge with that screen on, then your battery life will not last as long as it could. The reason is, (with the “Do not disconnect” screen ON) the iPod uses more energy then if was ejected from iTunes and still plugged in. So its like having your iPod “ON” wile charging it.

When you plug it into the wall socket it just shows the battery gauge, “this is what you want”.

Please remember to Eject your iPod from iTunes before you leave it plugged in for a long time. And this should get more life out of your battery.

GAME TAP - Hit it, or quit it?

Posted in: Game Tap, Gaming |

A few months ago while burning the midnight oil, I decided to check out Ted Turner owned subscription based game service GAME TAP.

At first glance I thought, “yeah rite! Another game site where they charge you a fairly low fee and give you access to crap no one wants to play”. WRONG! After downloading the free player it took me to a free games category where I found Tomb Raider Legend. Needless to say the addiction had a stranglehold on me. The game downloaded fairly quick and easy using a Comcast cable modem (about 1 hr. 15 mins.) with easy to read and understand user menus and prompts.

Last time I checked Game Tap had Nearly 1000 game titles to choose from and the list is growing.

I purchased Game Tap’s 1-month trial for 99 cents and upgraded to their gold package after the trial for $7.99 per month with the option to purchase the service for an entire year for about 70 bucks

Customer service is great also. I experienced a problem with a game called Rogue Trooper late one night and called tech support as a last ditch effort, and Game Tap’s tech guided me through a few menus, a spot on msconfig, a reboot and everything was pimpin’!

If you’re an avid gamer like me I highly recommend this service.
