I did boot to the DOS prompt and was then able to access the recovery images that way to.

After years of use the power supply fan on my Cisco 3745 router went bad so its time to change it. A great feature on this router is that it has redundant power supply’s so you can run on just one PSU. I have been running it for 6 weeks on one power supply and everything works fine but I wanted to get this done fast because some of the 3745 parts are hard to find.

I took the power supply apart and took the fan out. Just unscrew the tiny screws holding the metal plates on. Now unscrew the 4 screws on the circuit board.

The fan is a model 2410ml-04w-b69 12 volt DC 0.040 A made by Minebea Co. I did a search for the model 2410ml-04w-b69 and found the cheapest on ebay.

When I got the new Cisco 3745 power supply fan 2410ml-04w-b69 the connector was the wrong one so I took off the old one and put it on the new fan.

2

After putting the old connector on the new fan I plugged it in, screwed in the fan and the circuit board. Next I put the metal plate back on and plastic shield then screwed it in. Now plugged it into the 3745, plugged power cord in and flip switch. Everything worked fine and was EZ to do.

Check out the video.

Over a year ago I was given a lot of IBM x300 8672-8AX servers, 13 in all. They all had the same problem, bad capacitors on the motherboards. I went online and bought all the MS-6388 motherboards I could find and fixed 6 of the servers replacing the motherboards and now have them all running in my home server rack. Now a year later and there are no MS-6388 motherboards to be found online for sale so I bought new 4700uf capacitors to see if I could get the board to fire up. The MS-6388 motherboard has 6 – 4700uF 6.3v capacitors next to the CPU, as you can see in the pic the capacitors are bubbling, bulging or popping up.

After all the new 4700uF 10v capacitors were installed I put the motherboard in put everything back and it all worked fine.

Rebooting a computer can be as simple as clicking the “Start” button and selecting “Restart.”

Rebooting is the process of shutting down and restarting your computer again. All you have to do is click the Start and select “Shut down.” You will be prompted with a list of power options, including Shut down (turn the power off) and Restart (momentarily turns computer off and then back on). To reboot, simply select the Restart option.
