How to Defrag Computer or Defragment Computer

There are many ways to Defrag or Defragment your home computer. One way to do this is

1. Open My Computer.
2. Right-click the local disk volume that you want to defragment, and then click Properties.
3. On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now.
4. Click Defragment.

The next way to defrag computer in Windows XP and Windows Vista

1. Click Start

2. Click Accessories

3. Click System Tools

4. Click Disk Defragmenter

The next way to Defrag Computer

1. click on the “Start” button at the bottom of the screen. Then, click “My Computer”.

2. Right-click on the disk drive you want to defrag. If you want to defrag your C: drive, then right-click on “Local Disk (C:)”.

3. Click Properties

4. Click the Tools tab

5. Click the “Defragment Now” button.

6. Click to select the disk drive you want to defrag on a PC and then click “Defragment.” For most computers, this will be (C:).

Disk Defragmenter is a Utility included in Microsoft Windows designed to increase access speed by rearranging files stored on a disk to occupy contiguous storage locations, a technique commonly known as defragmenting. The purpose is to optimize the time it takes to read and write files to/from the disk by minimizing head travel time and maximizing the transfer rate. As of Windows XP, Disk Defragmenter is also used to improve system startup times.

You can also defrag your iPod.

How to Defragment the iPod Video 5th Generation

  1. Plug the iPod into your computer.
  2. In iTunes click on the iPod then make sure that Enable Disk Use is checked.
  3. Open “Windows Explorer” (click Start,Programs,Accessories,Windows Explorer)
  4. Right Click on the iPod in the left side of the screen.
  5. Go down to Properties and click.
  6. Now click the Tools Tab.
  7. Click the”Defragment Now” button.
  8. Click on the iPod drive then click Analyze button.
  9. After it is done you will see a screen that says something like “you do not need to defragment this volume” or “yes you should defragment”. You can click on the View Report button to see the full Analysis or Click the Defragment button to start defragmenting the iPod.

Now if you started defragmenting the iPod, it takes a long time to Defragment, so just do something else until its done.
