I turned on my iPod, it said “Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore.” What is this?
Sunday, July 29th, 2007If you get this message on you iPod, and iTunes will not find “your” iPod but finds a iPod connected with the name “iPod” in the left menu bar of iTunes, and the iPod restore will not work. (iPod locks up. Will not connect to computer.) How to fix iPod that says use iTunes to restore. Try the steps below.
I received this error message when I plugged in an FM Tuner or FM transmitter that would transmit across the whole FM band 88.0 to 107.0. It plugged into the iPod Plug not the headphone jack, it would also charge the iPod when it was plugged into the wall or car plug. I could not get my iPod to work until I did the steps in this post. After it was done the FM Tuner worked and the message has not come back yet.
But there are many reasons why you might get this message.
This error does not always mean you iPod is Dead or Fully Broken.
Please check the comments, other people have fixed this issue in different ways. If you had this happen to you and you were able to fix it please post, how you got the error and how you fixed it (did you plug something in like me?). We are just trying to help people so their first reaction isn’t my iPod is BAD and run out and buy a new one.
